MacGregor
To My Dog
by Mike Hynes
I wish now I’d taken time
To kiss you whenever I passed you by
And hug you when you caught my eye.
Sadly walking you became a bore
Though patting too became a chore
You looked at me, from the floor
Forgiving and hopeful
Because you love me.
And while my words weren’t always kind
In a corner, there I’d find
You, forgiving and caressing
Because you love me.
No matter how our time was spent
My words were sent
Your feelings bent
Still you loved me
No matter what
You always loved me.
And now, at the end,
I wave to you my sweetest friend
With joyous heart
And mournful sigh
I promise myself not to cry
But still a sparkle in my eye
Emparts to you
My last
Good bye. |
